🔥 TIGHT TRICEPS AND SHOULDER MOBILITY 👇
Did you know that your triceps can be limiting your shoulder mobility, specifically the long head. The triceps is responsible for extending the elbow; however one of the heads actually crosses the shoulder and can act on the shoulder. The long head of the triceps can help extend and adduct the shoulder, meaning if it does get tight, it can limit our ROM in shoulder flexion and abduction. You can see this easily by trying to put your shoulder into flexion while having the elbow flexed. Give it a try with a flexed and straight elbow.

You can see how stretching it over time will affect your ROM with a myofacial release using a ball or a bar. Bu placing the harder object under the triceps and going into flexion and extension of the elbow you can temporarily decrease the tension in the muscle. You may notice the difference in ROM, if so try to stretch routinely to allow that triceps head to elongate more freely long term. You can perform the stretch as shown in the picture above, flexing the elbow, going into shoulder flexion till the arm is by the head, then proceed to squeeze your shoulder blade down and back during to help increase the tension.

One thing you can also do during your training routines is add a full ROM exercise in a position where the shoulder is flexed. By doing this we can use eccentric loading of the triceps to help facilitate the lengthening of the tissue.
