⭕️STRICT PRESSING & BACK PAIN
🔥 Anyway, have you experienced back pain with pressing overhead?
💯 It’s a common issue individuals experience and can limit many from wanting to do overhead pressing. Typically, when someone is having pain in their lower back with pressing overhead we see them with excessive lumbar extension: while it isn’t inherently bad to be in this position, if you are sensitized to it, then we can modify it.

The easiest thing to do is alter your technique to get a bit more lumbar flexion/posterior pelvic tilt and keep your ribs down more. Then you can try to emphasize hip extension and thoracic extension for having a more upright torso angle for strong pressing.
❎ If that isn’t cutting it, try working on some hip extension drills and thoracic extension drills to help increase the movement capacity for these altered positions. Good examples are the front foot elevated hip flexor mob and the side lying thoracic windmill.
